Former Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell confirmed that he used to smoke weed before games when he was with them.

Bell went on the Steel Here podcast recently and said that he would get high before games and even played well when he smoked.

"I feel like I got a misconception about me with the whole weed thing," Bell said, (first transcribed by Sports Illustrated). "I was wrong just cuz I shouldn’t have smoked in the car, regardless. But looking back at this, that’s what I did. When I was playing football, I smoked, bro. Even before the games, I would smoke. I’d go out there and run for 150 (yards) and two (touchdowns)."

Bell was suspended twice by the NFL due to marijuana violations. In 2014, he was arrested for marijuana possession and got suspended for the first two games of the 2015 season.

He was then suspended for the first three games of the following season after he failed a drug test.

Bell played for the Steelers for five seasons before bouncing around to several other teams. He hasn't played in an NFL game since 2021.

Later in the podcast, he confirmed his desire to retire as a member of the Steelers. We'll see if he gets that wish.
