Golf World Reacts To What Tiger Woods' Agent Did This Week
It appears that the ongoing war between PGA Tour and LIV Golf golfers is extending all the way to who agents choose to represent.
According to SI golf insider Alan Shipnuck, LIV's Thomas Pieters was informed shortly after arriving in Mexico for this week's event that he had been dumped by his longtime agent Mark Steinberg.
“Weirdest thing ever,” Pieters told Shipnuck. “He’s just gone.”
Steinberg is most notable for being the longtime agent of Tiger Woods. And Woods has chosen to remain loyal to the PGA Tour.
Per the report, Steinberg does not have a single client who is a member of the LIV Golf Tour.
Golf fans aren't thrilled by the decision though. Many are calling it pretty classless of Steinberg (and by extension Woods) to behave that way, while a few think it makes the PGA Tour vs. LIV Golf war all the more exciting:
The war of words between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf Tour has been going on ever since the golfers started taking big money salaries to join the ascending tour.
In response, the PGA Tour has banned all LIV golfers from participating in their events, and in recent months the sponsors have started following suit.
Though for the amount of money that some of these LIV golfers have been making, the deficit has already been covered and then some.
Was this a petty move by Tiger Woods, or something else entirely?
