When the New England Patriots host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers next weekend, Julian Edelman will have a tough time figuring out who to root for. On one sideline there's the team that Edelman spent his entire NFL career with, and on the other there's the quarterback who Edelman had an incredible connection with, Tom Brady.

Brady is undeniably the greatest player to ever suit up for the Patriots, but his departure from Foxborough has certainly complicated things. And since he's still playing at an elite level, there are still plenty of fans wondering what could've been if he re-signed with New England last year.

While there are several analogies that could be made for Brady's return to Gillette Stadium, nothing quite beats the one that Edelman made during a press conference on Thursday.

"It's definitely weird,"

Julian Edelman on if it's going to be weird seeing Tom Brady play the #Patriots: "It's definitely weird - It's like going to a family BBQ and you're like the kid with divorced parents, and they're both there and you don't know if they're going to fight."

">Edelman said when asked if it's going to be weird seeing Brady play against the Patriots. "It's like going to a family barbecue and you're like the kid with divorced parents, and they're both there and you don't know if they're going to fight."

A Patriots win that features a few big plays from Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski seems to be the best possible outcome for Edelman.

Before the Patriots get ready to take on Brady and the Buccaneers, they'll have to take care of business against the New Orleans Saints this weekend.

New England will honor Edelman this Sunday with a special halftime ceremony.
