Justin Jefferson Has Honest Reaction To Loss After Brutal Fumble
Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson was the victim of the NFL's touchback rule on Thursday night.
Just before halftime, Jefferson hauled in a pass and was reaching for the goal line to score a touchdown when he lost control of the ball. The ball went out of bounds in the endzone for a touchback which gave the Eagles the ball at their own 20-yard line.
The Vikings were down 10-7 at the time and had Jefferson not lost the ball on that play, perhaps the game would've been different. Jefferson knows that the fumble is on him and told his teammates after the game that it won't happen again.
"I'm putting it a lot on myself," Jefferson said, (first transcribed by ProFootballTalk). “Fumbling in the end zone like that when we need points and we’re driving and having that momentum. I was telling my teammates that’s on me and it won’t happen again.”
Jefferson would go on to finish the game with 11 receptions for 159 yards in the team's 34-28 loss.
He'll need to keep playing at that level and not make that kind of mistake since the Vikings have a brutal stretch of games coming up. Three of their next five games are against the Los Angeles Chargers, Kansas City Chiefs, and San Francisco 49ers.
