Decades of working at ESPN prevented longtime broadcaster Mike Golic from ever working on a Super Bowl. But now that he's employed by NBC, he's getting a chance to be a part of one - and he's enjoying the heck out of it.

On Sunday, Golic's wife Christine posted a picture of her husband ahead of his first Super Bowl job. "Happy for Mike today getting to work his first Super Bowl and attend it for the first time as well. Not as good as playing in it but hey it’s pretty great too," she wrote.

Christine Golic was pretty happy, and Mike was too. In a retweet he had a short but sweet statement about his own feels.

"Very excited," Golic wrote, adding two smiley face emojis. His response already has over 3,000 likes in just a few minutes.

In nine seasons as an NFL player and nearly 30 years in radio and television, Mike Golic never got a chance to be a part of a Super Bowl Sunday broadcast.

Golic worked with local broadcast stations for several years before his big break with ESPN came in 2000. But since ESPN never had the broadcast rights to the Super Bowl, he and his various broadcast partners never had a big role in one.

Joining ProFootballTalk with Mike Florio will finally give him that opportunity.

Hopefully this isn't the last one.
