Look: Sports World Reacts To Phil Mickelson's Announcement
This past weekend, Brooks Koepka became the first active LIV golfer to win a major championship — taking the PGA Championship title at Oak Hill Country Club.
This win changed the narrative on LIV golfers, who had previously struggled to find any real major success.
Phil Mickelson, one of LIV Golf's most prominent figures, took to Twitter with a message about this narrative on Tuesday.
"Love LIV or hate it, it’s the best way/Tour to be your best in the majors. Enough events to keep you sharp, fresh and ready, yet not be worn down from too many tournaments or obligations. 14 LIV events, 34 weeks left open to prepare for the 4 majors. Fact," he wrote.
The sports world took to Twitter to react to this message from Lefty.
"LIVs good for the game, too many old heads running the show on the PGA and moneys dirty everywhere regardless," one fan wrote.
"Sure, but fans are the ones that miss out on seeing their favorite players 65% of the year," another said.
"That must be why only one LIV guy has had any chance to win the last two majors. interesting," another added.
"One guy wins and now we are proclaiming it’s a fact? Seems like we’re jumping the gun a bit," another wrote.
In addition to Koepka, two other LIV golfers finished in the top-10 of this year's PGA Championship. Bryson DeChambeau finished in a tie for fourth at three-under, and Cameron Smith finished in a tie for ninth at one-under.
Mickelson, 52, made the cut and finished the weekend in a tie for 58th at 10-over.
