Markelle Fultz Reportedly Not Involved In Trade Discussions For Kawhi Leonard

The Philadelphia 76ers took Markelle Fultz No. 1 overall in last year's NBA Draft. They didn't get much out of the Washington point guard, who battled a shoulder injury and shooting issues all season.

Still, Philly seems to be valuing Fultz as a part of its future. The Sixers are reportedly discussing potential packages for San Antonio Spurs star Kawhi Leonard, and Fultz is not part of them.

Philadelphia has yet to formally engage San Antonio with offers for Leonard, according to Sports Illustrated's Jake Fischer.

However, Fisher says the Sixers' internal discussions have not mentioned Fultz as a piece they'd be looking to move in a deal with the Spurs.

This is what Fischer says Philly has talked about in regards to dealing for Leonard.

One team source says preliminary discussions with San Antonio revealed the Spurs have strong interest in a package involving burgeoning forwards Dario Saric and Robert Covington as well as a future first-round pick.

A potential, more serious offer that Philadelphia is weighing internally includes Saric and Covington and the 2021 Miami Heat unprotected first-round pick the Sixers obtained in their draft-night deal with the Phoenix Suns.

If Philadelphia is able to get Leonard for Saric, Covington and a first-round pick, that seems like a no-brainer. San Antonio could likely pull more.

Getting back to Fultz, he appeared in 14 games as a rookie, averaging 7.1 points, 3.8 assists and 3.1 rebounds per appearance. He also played in three playoff games.
