Earlier this week, Denny Hamlin and Chase Elliott were involved in a collision that left both drivers off the track before the conclusion of the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Hamlin forced Elliott into the wall, which the latter responded to by making contact with Hamlin's right rear. Hamlin went into the wall and both drivers were forced out of the race.

Not long after the incident, Hamlin made it clear he thought Elliott should be suspended for his actions.

"I got right-rear hooked in the middle of the straightaway. It’s a tantrum, and he shouldn’t be racing next week," Hamlin said. "Right rear hooks are absolutely unacceptable....It is the same thing that Bubba Wallace did with Kyle Larson, exact same. He shouldn’t be racing."

Well, NASCAR listened.

On Tuesday afternoon NASCAR suspended Elliott for one race. It's a decision that fans think NASCAR got right in the end.

"Absolutely the right call and follows precedent. Major props to NASCAR for, in my opinion, making the right call," NASCAR reporter Taylor Kitchen said.

"Good Play stupid games win stupid prizes. No reason to hook someone period," another fan said.

"I can’t believe they actually did it. Good for them…" added a third.

Elliott would need to request a waiver to remain playoff eligible.
