The college football season ended only three weeks ago, but there are already several sets of way-too-early top 25 rankings released for next year.
NCAA.com's Wayne Staats unveiled his preliminary top 25 for 2022 over the weekend. Not surprisingly, he has a lot of the usual suspects at or near the top.
Alabama, this year's runner-up, is at No. 1, followed by Ohio State, Georgia, Texas A&M and Notre Dame. You can see the full top 25 here.
Meanwhile, Staats' top 10 is as follows:
- Ohio State
- Texas A&M
- Notre Dame
- Oklahoma State
- Wake Forest
It's important to note that while most of these schools will likely be ranked highly when the 2022 season gets underway, it is going to take a while to settle on an actual order of teams.
That's because we still have the whole offseason ahead of us, complete with the transfer portal, late signing additions and even potential coaching changes (Michigan maybe?).
For now, feel free to debate among yourselves if Staats got it right or not.
