Nebraska Volleyball Made History On ESPN Tuesday Night
Nebraska women's volleyball faced off against Stanford in a marquee matchup of top-five teams on Tuesday night. The Huskers came away with the victory on the court, and they also were big winners in the ratings department.
ESPN says that Nebraska's 3-1 win over Stanford drew 466,000 viewers. That's a new record for a regular-season volleyball match on ESPN platforms.
The win was the first time Nebraska had defeated Stanford since 2008, as well as their first top-five win in the regular season since beating then-No. 2 Penn State in 2017.
Nebraska made history earlier this season when over 92,000 fans packed into Lincoln's Memorial Stadium to watch them play. The match against Omaha set a world record for the most fans in history to witness a women's sports event, as 92,003 fans were on hand for the game.
Prices were as high as $400 on the secondary market for the match at Memorial Stadium.
Nebraska volleyball is known for the support that it has been able to garner over the last two decades. The team has sold out attendance for over 300 home matches, the longest such streak in all of women's college sports.
Nebraska volleyball continues to make history, and their rating on ESPN is another example of their drawing power.
