Despite not taking the NFL field since 2016, Colin Kaepernick is still staying ready in case a team comes calling.

During a recent interview with Gilberto Manzano of Sports Illustrated, the former San Francisco quarterback said he still trains five to six days a week and can still throw a deep-ball further than 60 yards.

“I’m going to keep pushing,” the 35-year-old QB said. “I’m going to keep fighting for it because I know I can step on the field and play. Every workout, every opportunity I’ve had to show that, the feedback has always been positive. Everything from, ‘He’s still an elite player,’ to ‘The workout was great; it was better than expected.’"

The NFL world took to Twitter to react to this response from Kaepernick.

"Dude 35…. No team going after him. Call it quits," one fan wrote.

"Copied and pasted every year since he's been in the league. Meanwhile the NFC seems desperate for a QB half as good as he was," another said.

"Politics aside, dude is 35 and been out of the league as long as he’d been in. Who’s gonna tell him?" another added.

Kaepernick doesn't have any reported workouts scheduled so far this offseason. Last year, he worked out with the Las Vegas Raiders, but they ultimately elected to go with Jarrett Stidham and Nick Mullens as backups for Derek Carr.

“I appreciate the love and support,” Kaepernick concluded. “We’re going to keep pushing, keep building, keep fighting, and ultimately, we’re going to create a better future for all of us.”
