The Miami Dolphins have long been reported to be interested in a Deshaun Watson trade. Last Wednesday, longtime NFL reporter John McClain wrote that such a deal could be done by the end of the week.

Well, that didn't happen, but it doesn't mean the Houston Texans won't ship Watson to Miami before next week's trade deadline. It has been reported that Houston is ready to deal the quarterback but is waiting on the right offer.

In a new post Sunday morning, Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio predicted that Miami will eventually give the Texans what they're looking for. Florio also said that he believes "momentum is building" toward a Watson deal.

That said, one source with knowledge of the dynamics of the Dolphins organization says the position on trading for Watson is not unanimous. Ultimately, however, oligarchs tend to get what oligarchs want.

The two teams have been unable to get a deal done, in part because the Dolphins haven’t wanted to give the Texans what they want, and because the Texans don’t want to give the Dolphins any protection against the legal issues creating issues regarding Watson’s availability. It appears that, to get Watson, the Dolphins will have to give the Texans what they want.

Watson has not played this season due to the ongoing lawsuits he faces regarded allegations of sexual misconduct. There's a chance if he is dealt in the next nine days, he will immediately be placed on the commissioner's exempt list with his new team.

Meanwhile, Miami Dolphins head coach Brian Flores issued a denial of the trade rumors on Friday, giving a vote of confidence to Tua Tagovailoa.

“Tua is a our quarterback,” Flores said. “I’m happy with our quarterback.”

The 2021 NFL trade deadline is set for 4 p.m. ET next Tuesday.
