NFL World Reacts To Sunday's Andrew Luck Announcement
The Washington Commanders are alleged to have actively courted retired Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck. That's a big no-no given they didn't have the Colts' permission first and it may be tantamount to tampering.
Colts owner Jim Irsay has publicly admonished any efforts to contact Luck without his approval. But will the NFL punish the Commanders for going behind Irsay's back?
According to Commanders insiders Nicki Jhabvala and Mark Maske, the Commanders are "unlikely" to be penalized for tampering. Per the report, there was no contact between the Commanders and Luck, making it a non-issue.
But fans don't seem to have read the part about there being no contact. Many have taken to Twitter calling on the Commanders to call Luck "again" to try and recruit him right this time. Others are complaining about Irsay making a mountain out of a non-existent molehill:
While Andrew Luck won't be the Commanders' starting quarterback in 2023, there are still questions as to who will be. Right now their QBs room is a mix of underperforming or unproven players with potential.
The most experienced player on the roster is Jacoby Brissett, while Sam Howell and Jake Fromm have some NFL experience but only four games between them.
Rookie UDFA Tim DeMorat is likely going to be competing with Fromm for the third QB role on the roster.
Who will start in Week 1 for the Commanders?
