NFL World Reacts To Tuesday's Daniel Jones Update
The New York Giants hope to commit to Daniel Jones as their franchise quarterback.
Jones is the team's "priority" as they conduct long-term contract extension negotiations this offseason, per NFL insider Dianna Russini.
"It's been made very clear by those involved in negotiations, the New York Giants are planning for Daniel Jones to be their QB. He is their priority. They are working on a long-term deal. Then they will figure out Saquon. The clock is ticking though..." Russini reports.
The NFL world took to Twitter to react to this update regarding Jones' contract situation.
"Long term QB of the New York Giants? Guess the SB windows gonna remain closed shut," one fan wrote.
"Daniel Jones making $30M/year would be laughable. $40M/year would be the worst sports contract since the Lakers signed Timofey Mozgov," another added.
"The more i think about this the more I start questioning a long term deal," another said.
Recent reports indicate that Jones has demanded $45 million per year on a potential new contract. If the two parties are unable to come to an extension agreement, the Giants could hit their QB with a $32.416 million non-exclusive franchise tag.
Jones, who just finished up his rookie deal, is coming off the best season of his young career. The dual-threat QB led the Giants to the Divisional Round after posting 3,205 passing yards, 15 passing touchdowns, five interceptions, 708 rushing yards and seven rushing touchdowns during the regular season.
