Before Oregon prepared to face Colorado on Saturday at Autzen Stadium as heavy favorites, head coach Dan Lanning gave a passionate speech to his players.
"The Cinderella story is over, men. They’re fighting for clicks, we’re fighting for wins. There’s a difference," Lanning said. "This game ain’t going to be played in Hollywood. It’s going to be played on the grass."
The Ducks then dominated the Buffaloes in every way possible, leading to the 42-6 blowout victory.
Two days after the game, ESPN's Ryan Clark addressed the speech on Monday while appearing on ESPN First Take.
"The entire country tuned into to watch @oregonfootball beat @CUBuffsFootball and Dan Lanning made it a point to tell everyone what he thought about the Buffs doing it “for clicks”. I’m here to inform Dan so did you. You invited the cameras into the locker room to go viral, and congrats you did. Did it your way, not @DeionSanders way. Deion Sanders doesn’t tear down others to build himself up.
"He doesn’t speak on other teams & coaches, because he doesn’t need to. I get it it seems Hollywood when the biggest stars keep their eyes on you, but make no mistake about it Dan you were concerned with those eyes too!"
Do you agree with Clark?
Deion and the Buffaloes will return home to face USC on Saturday.
