The New Orleans Saints narrowly escaped Seattle with a victory over the Seahawks on Monday night, but the team didn't come out completely unscathed.

In the wake of the win, the Saints discovered that they may be losing an offensive lineman for the rest of the season.

#Saints guard Andrus Peat is feared to have suffered a torn pec, sources say. Peat is waiting on MRI results to confirm the potential season-ending injury. But that’s based on the initial exams.

">According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, New Orleans fears that five-time Pro Bowl guard Andrus Peat suffered a torn pectoral muscle during Monday's game. The Saints are awaiting for MRI results to confirm the diagnosis, but initial exams indicate that the injury is likely. If Peat did suffer a torn pec, he will likely be sidelined for the rest of the 2021 season.

Peat has been a major contributor to the Saints for the last half decade, so Tuesday's news is a major blow. The former first-round pick has made the Pro Bowl in each of the last five years after coming into the league in 2015. He's been a major reason for the team's success on offense in recent seasons, so Sean Payton will need to find a way to adjust without him.

The Saints will likely turn to rookie Calvin Throckmorton to fill a spot on the offensive line in Peat's absence. Even if he isn't the specific player that Payton turns to, the New Orleans offensive line is due for a major shakeup.

Peat isn't the only member of the Saints believed to be ruled out for the year this week. Kicker Will Lutz announced Tuesday that he suffered a setback in his recovery and won't return this season.

Even with all of the recent injuries, the Saints are 4-2 on the year headed into Week 8.
