The Saints are awaiting for MRI results to confirm the diagnosis, but initial exams indicate that the injury is likely. If Peat did suffer a torn pec, he will likely be sidelined for the rest of the 2021 season.

Peat has been a major contributor to the Saints for the last half decade, so Tuesday's news is a major blow. The former first-round pick has made the Pro Bowl in each of the last five years after coming into the league in 2015. He's been a major reason for the team's success on offense in recent seasons, so Sean Payton will need to find a way to adjust without him.

The Saints will likely turn to rookie Calvin Throckmorton to fill a spot on the offensive line in Peat's absence. Even if he isn't the specific player that Payton turns to, the New Orleans offensive line is due for a major shakeup.

Peat isn't the only member of the Saints believed to be ruled out for the year this week. Kicker Will Lutz announced Tuesday that he suffered a setback in his recovery and won't return this season.

Even with all of the recent injuries, the Saints are 4-2 on the year headed into Week 8.
