The Phoenix Mercury may have lost their recent home game against the Chicago Sky, but that didn't stop Brittney Griner from enjoying a special moment with her wife Cherelle after the game.

ESPN cameras followed Griner to the sideline after the game, where Cherelle was waiting to embrace the WNBA superstar. They shared a nice hug and kiss as the announcers sounded like they were moved to tears.

The Griners have been reunited for six months after Brittney's return from imprisonment in Russia from February to December of last year. But this marked one of the first recorded times that the two embraced on a WNBA court since her return to the United States.

Brittney Griner has seemingly had a new lease on life since being freed from Russia last year. She marked her return by pledging to become an advocate for other Americans imprisoned overseas, such as former U.S. Marine Paul Whelan.

Since returning to the WNBA, Griner has resumed standing for the national anthem and has expressed a newfound appreciation for hearing it.

As a result, Griner's haters in the comments have changed their tune from wishing she had been left in Russia to accusing her of being a man again. The more things change, the more they stay the same in that regard.

Her haters aside, it's great to see Griner enjoying being back in the WNBA again.
