Cowboys Star Lineman Has Brutally Honest Comment On Ezekiel Elliott

Jerry Jones has been pretty forthright throughout Ezekiel Elliott's holdout and the Dallas Cowboys owner made a comment today that makes it seem like he's content with his star running back missing regular season games.
“We’ve got a marathon here. We want Zeke when we get to the playoffs” Jones told Dallas’ 105.3 The Fan. “We want Zeke when we’re in the dog days of the season.”
The Cowboys' players appear to be OK with that, too.
Dallas star offensive lineman Zack Martin had a brutally honest comment on Elliott's potential regular season holdout on Tuesday night.
Simply put: Martin loves Elliott, but the Cowboys are confident with or without him. Dallas has a promising young back in Tony Pollard ready to fill in if Elliott misses games.
“Listen, we’re preparing for the season. We’re going to play with what we’ve got. And what we’ve got is a damn good back in Tony Pollard,” Martin said on Tuesday. “Obviously you want (Zeke) out here but we’re preparing to get ready for Week 1.”
Pollard has impressed in training camp and in the preseason, drawing serious praise from Jones and his teammates.
The Cowboys open the regular season with three winnable games - vs. Giants, at Redskins, vs. Dolphins - so a 3-0 start without Elliott is certainly possible.
Emmitt Smith famously held out at the start of the 1993 season, only to get paid after the Cowboys started 0-2. Elliott could be looking for a similar outcome, though Dallas might be better prepared for a good start this time around.
