Man Accused Of Killing United Healthcare CEO Attended $40,000 High School

The man accused of killing the United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson attended quite the high school.

On Monday, police took a 26-year-old man into custody, following the killing of the United Healthcare CEO in New York City last week. A man, Maryland native Luigi Mangione, was reportedly taken into custody in Altoona, Pennsylvania on Monday. He was reportedly spotted at a McDonald's. Mangione has not been charged yet, though he's believed to be the primary suspect in the fatal shooting of the healthcare executive.

Mangione, who worked in the technology field, attended a very prestigious college. He reportedly graduated from the University of Pennsylvania - UPenn - in 2020. Mangione graduated from the Ivy League school with a degree in engineering.

New York City Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch announced an update on the case on Monday, confirming that Mangione was the top suspect.

“At this time, he is believed to be our person of interest in the brazen, targeted murder of Brian Thompson, CEO of UnitedHealthcare, last Wednesday in midtown Manhattan,” Tisch said.

Mangione, who grew up in Towson, Maryland, attended a very prestigious high school, too. He went to the Gilman School in Baltimore, where he played soccer. The school costs about $40,000 per year in tuition.

Video of his apparent valedictorian speech has leaked online.

The accused killer of the United Healthcare CEO is one of six children.

NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny said that Mangione is believed to have a manifesto, though it doesn't sound like anyone else is in danger.

“We don’t think there’s any specific threats to other people mentioned in that document, but it does seem that he has some ill will towards corporate America,” Kenny said.

According to reports, the suspect engaged in anti-capitalist and climate-change causes discussion online, as well as negative talk regarding the healthcare community.

Police have been searching for the United Healthcare killer suspect since last Wednesday, when Thompson was shot multiple times outside of a New York City Hilton in Midtown Manhattan.
