WNBA Coaches Under Investigation For Harassment, Bullying
WNBA coaches are officially under investigation for bullying and harassment on Sunday morning.
ESPN reported on Sunday morning that a group of WNBA coaches are being investigated for their treatment towards players. The WNBA is coming off arguably its best - and most important - season of all-time. The New York Liberty topped the Minnesota Lynx in the 2024 WNBA Finals, capping an epic playoffs that included massive interest and huge television ratings.
But on Sunday, the league learned of some troubling news. Seattle Storm coaches are being investigated for mistreatment of players.
From the report:
Seattle Storm coaches are being investigated by the organization for alleged player mistreatment, a source with knowledge of the situation confirmed to ESPN on Saturday.
The Chicago Sun-Times reported Friday that the Storm are investigating their coaching staff. According to the report, Seattle has hired a law firm to look into accusations of harassment and bullying by the coaches regarding player performance.
The Storm were 25-15 this season and lost to Las Vegas in the first round of the playoffs. Noelle Quinn just finished her fourth year as Seattle's head coach. Quinn, a former WNBA player, took over early in the 2021 season when Dan Hughes retired.
Quinn, a former WNBA player, took over as the team's head coach in 2021. She was joined on staff this year by former WNBA player Ebony Hoffman, longtime head coach and assistant Pokey Chatman, and Perry Huang.
The Storm are one of the best franchises in WNBA history, winning four titles.
Quinn had promised to be better after a disappointing 2024 season.
"I will be better. Our team will be better," Quinn said then. "Effort will never, ever be a thing for us again."
The investigation is reportedly ongoing.
