Former Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel has been out of football since the AAF folded last April. But Manziel has made a number of conflicting posts on Twitter recently that suggest he had a desire to play in the XFL. Last night, though, he clarified his recent statements.

Taking to Twitter on Saturday, Manziel wrote that he has "zero desire to play any football these days." He admitted that his tweets over the weekend were just part of his love for "stirring up controversy."

In his original tweet, Manziel called out XFL commissioner Oliver Luck, teasing the former NFL QB that signing him would be great for his league's ratings. At the time, he told Luck "send me the contract tomorrow and we're in there."

But the former Cleveland Browns first-round pick quickly deleted his Twitter account before re-activating it yesterday.

While ProFootballTalk believes that the XFL needs Manziel as much as Manziel needs the XFL, the fledgling football league has shown no interest in doing so.

Manziel's last foray onto a football field came last year with the Memphis Express of the short-lived AAF. The league folded three days after his second start for the team.

Prior to that, Manziel was permanently banned from the Canadian Football League.

Manziel may not have any desire to play football these days, but at 27 years of age, there's still time for him to change his mind. Though he'll probably need to change his attitude if he wants to get a chance with anyone.
