The quarterback of an XFL team is reportedly taking a leave of absence from the program. Tampa Bay Vipers quarterback Quinton Flowers is reportedly leaving the team to deal with a personal matter.

According to a report from Mari Faiello of the Tampa Bay Times, Vipers head coach Marc Trestman expects Flowers to return soon. While Flowers out, Taylor Cornelius will get the start this weekend.

Immediately after the report of Flowers absence emerged, some suggested it might have to do with another recent report about the team. Last week, an unnamed Vipers player called out Trestman following the team's 0-2 start.

"He's too f***ing stubborn to change. S***, just admit defeat and change. He's gonna get my a** cut," one player allegedly said. However, Faiello made it clear that Flowers is not the player who made those comments.

"To clarify rumors the personal matter is not team related," Faiello said about Flowers' decision to step away from the team.

Flowers is a fan favorite in Tampa Bay after his standout career with the South Florida Bulls.

The Vipers are in desperate need of a win after falling to 0-3 with a loss to the Houston Roughnecks last weekend.

The team is also dealing with the loss of starting quarterback Aaron Murray - who has been out since the start of the season.
