We're halfway through Week 3 of the inaugural XFL season, and things are starting to take shape. There are two more games on Sunday, including one with the best team in the East so far.

In the afternoon, the two middle teams in the East face off. The winner could wind up in a tie for first, if things shake out right for them. The New York Guardians and St. Louis Battlehawks, each 1-1, face off in St. Louis.

The Battlehawks held tight with undefeated Houston last week, falling 28-24, while New York is coming off of a 27-0 drubbing at the hands of the DC Defenders. The game is at 2 p.m. ET on ESPN.

In the late game, the Defenders travel out West to face the LA Wildcats. DC is 2-0, led by former Ohio State quarterback Cardale Jones. LA is looking to pull a big upset to get its first win. In the first two weeks, the Wildcats have fallen to Houston and Dallas by a total of 27 points. The game kicks off at 6 p.m. and is on FS1. A cross-country trip is never easy, but DC got some words of encouragement from a pretty major football figure.

In today's action, the two Texas teams kept impressing, even with pretty long road trips of their own.

In the early game, the Houston Roughnecks beat the Tampa Bay Vipers 34-27, to move to 3-0. Quarterback PJ Walker remains the breakout star of the XFL season so far, and impressed with 340 yards and four total touchdowns on the day. If anyone is going to have a Tommy Maddox star turn from this year in the league, it may be the former Temple QB.

Later on, the Dallas Renegades won at the Seattle Dragons 24-12. Landry Jones went for 273 yards and three touchdowns through the air, while Cameron Artis-Payne, a former Auburn star, chipped in with 80 on the ground. Dallas is now 2-1 and in second place in the West, while Seattle falls to 1-2.
